Kobe (Reuters) – Former Barcelona defender Thomas Framalin has become the fourth player to join Spaniard Vicel Kobe on Saturday.

The 33-year-old defender will be joined by former Barcelona players Andres Iniesta, David Biya and Sergey Samper in the 16-team club of the league's 18 teams.

"When I received the offer, I was very happy to be part of this team.

"I think it's a very ambitious team and that it can follow on from previous transactions with Andres, David Biya, Sergey Samper and Lukas Podolski."

"I know them all very well and for me, it played an important role in my decision to be part of the team," said the 34-year-old who played for Barcelona in the absence of his team for injuries.

Barcelona plays with Kobe Saturday in preparation for the new season.

Formalin, who has participated in 70 international caps and defended the Arsenal jersey for the period 2009-2014, left Barcelona at the end of last season.
