Mr. Salim Sfeir, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Beirut, was unanimously elected President of the Association of Lebanese Banks, the main badociation of the banking sector in Lebanon. With a major mission to effectively promote the interests of the Lebanese banking sector, the Association has contributed significantly to policy discussions and legislation, especially those related to the financial sector.

Following his election, Mr. Sfeir outlined the Association's strategy for the coming years, stating that its objectives would be to increase its presence as an influence on economic, financial and fiscal policies, to complement the organizational structure within the Association and to improve coordination with the Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon.

Mr. Sfeir has been Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Bank of Beirut since 1993. Since then, Mr. Sfeir has played an active role in leading the Bank of Beirut in a period of prosperity and recession and has established its position. current leader and bank widely recognized in Lebanon and in the region.

He holds a BA in Economics from the University of Montreal and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Detroit. Mr. Sfeir has received numerous awards, including in April 2014, an honorary doctorate in business administration and business sciences from Holy Spirit University – Kaslik, Lebanon. In 2017, he received an honorary doctorate in human sciences from the Lebanese American University.
