The body of a man was found in a house belonging to Mohammed al-Nani, a midfielder in Arsenal, in the Egyptian city of Mahalla al-Kubra.
Mohammed's father, Naser al-Nini, was discovered when he went to the villa, about 100 km north of Cairo.
Police, informed of the incident, said the deceased was trying to steal electrical cables to the villa.
Sources explained that the police had reserved the body and transferred it to the morgue.
Police had sent a criminal team to the scene, after being informed, to check the bodybuilder's identity and question neighbors and witnesses.
Egyptian media said traces of electric shock appeared on the body, which was found five days after the death.
The villa is still under construction and is not inhabited by anyone, but the Nini family has entrusted it to a charity.
Nbader al-Nini informed his son Mohammed by phone, after the player's return to Arsenal after participating in international matches in Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations.
