Libyan Health announces the creation of the first center specializing in the rehabilitation of autistic children in Tripoli
While autistic children in Libya are subject to financial exploitation, the Ministry of Health's Government of the National Accord announced that it had begun to take steps to create the first ministerial center specializing in the treatment and rehabilitation of children with autism.
In some parts of Libya, children with autism lack specialists in this field or set up centers providing medical services to hundreds of children infected with the disease, making them vulnerable to exploitation both at home and abroad, seeking treatment.
In a statement released Sunday on his Facebook account, the ministry announced that it will soon announce the completion of the project to create a medical center providing diagnostic, reeducation and therapy services to children autistic, noting that the center provides early intervention services using the latest educational tests and appealing to a multidisciplinary team, and will provide diagnostic services through intelligence tests, behavioral tests, as well as skills of daily living, functional and communication, which will help improve the behavior and skills of children with autistic disorder.
She pointed out that the proper diagnosis would allow these children to acquire the skills of listening, comprehension and autonomy and integrate them into public schools at different stages of education.

The ministry indicated that the center would provide educational services to children aged 4 to 12, in accordance with the latest international educational programs related to the capabilities and characteristics of each case, as well as therapeutic support and functional treatment, natural and behavioral, through specialized teams working in the education of parents integrating them socially and academically.
The Ministry of Health said that in recent years it has been able to limit the cases of illness from different cities and regions of Libya and issue cards. Follow up: "Cases will be received in the new center once it is finished."
Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health Mohammed Haitham Issa said autistic children in Libya have the right to access medical, social, educational and psychological services.
The Ministry concluded that scientific studies clearly demonstrated the effectiveness of early intervention programs for children with autism and that 74 of them indicated that these interventions resulted in an improvement in the average level of cognitive development, linguistic and schooling of children with different disabilities.
There are no official statistics on the number of autistic children in Libya, given the state of division of the country, to overthrow Moamer Kadhafi's regime in 2011, but scholars believe that they are thousands, some are treated in centers in the interior of the country, while others seek medical services in neighboring countries.
The Higher Committee on Liberty in Liberty worries about the need to take care of young people, especially the expansion of the war in the country since 2014, and called for "focus on the child during difficult times and to spend time talking to him, to inform him of the love of those around him, When you ask him questions, for example, that do you know about the war or what did you hear about it, it allows your child to explain his fears? "
The High Committee for Children, through flyers, felt that the child should be protected from images or sounds that could scare him, and helped him to distinguish the real from the imaginary, and to let him know that you do not give up and that he would not suffer any prejudice.
The health system in Libya is severely affected by renewed armed clashes and deteriorating economic conditions, leading to a shortage of drugs and equipment, so that the construction of some medical centers depends on several cities.
