A team belonging to Pique rises to the third Spanish level for half a million dollars
FC Andorra, which belongs to Barcelona central defender Gerard Pique, has joined the third Spanish division after paying a UEFA license fee.
Samura and Alekopendas were initially designated to replace the bankrupt Kings, but the Spanish Confederation said that Andorra had been chosen because the team was meeting the "specific requirements" of an amount of 452,000 euros (about half a million dollars).
"We have a good chance for our club," said FRC President Veran Velasikia in a statement.
The club climbed two levels in one season after winning the Catalan league last season.
The fishing group, Cosmos Holding Group, bought the FC Andrews team in December 2018.
The club has recruited new players this summer, including 31-year-old Mejal Palanca, who previously played for Real Madrid.
