Former Italian world champion Daniele De Rossi said he was eager to play in the prestigious Bombonera Stadium after being introduced by his new team, Argentina's Boca Juniors.

The 36-year-old has signed a one-year contract with the Argentine giants after a brilliant 18-year run for the Roma.

The defensive midfielder was greeted with great enthusiasm at the Pombunera stadium when he appeared in front of the public, giving him the number 16 jersey that he wore with the wolves of the Italian capital.

"If you like football, if you like big stadiums, do not deprive yourself of this experience," said former teammate Francesco Totti in a letter to European footballers.

Boca Juniors is one of the most famous clubs of Argentina and South America. He won the league title 33 times, just ahead of Riverblight, 36, and won the Libertadores Cup 6 times, with a title at Independiente.

"My goal is like that of Boca, winning the Libertadores and the League," said De Rossi, who helped Italy to win its fourth World Cup title in 2006 and to wear its colors 117 times.

While former Boca players organized parades in Italy such as legend Diego Maradona, Walter Samuel and Carlos Tevez, De Rossi became the first Italian star to play in Buenos Aires.

De Rossi said he wants to play "in a stimulating atmosphere, because it's the most important thing for me since I play football 24 hours a day.

De Rossi played 616 matches with Roma and scored 63 goals in all competitions, scoring twice in the Italian Cup in 2007 and 2008, as well as in the 2007 Super Cup.
