Facebook is about to let you write in your thoughts only

In 2017, at the conference, the developers announced their intention to develop a brain-computer interface (BCI) to write only by thinking.

An article describing the technology revealed the ability of the device to identify brain activity so as to instantly convey what a person said and turn it into text on a computer screen .

Researchers at the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF), working on this program, reported that the algorithm was able to detect words spoken from brain activity in real time.

The algorithm is currently able to identify a small set of words and phrases, but the tech giant said his mobile device could allow paralyzed people to connect one day.

The model of the device detects words with a precision of up to 76%, and Facebook indicates that it does not expect the system to be available in the near future, but this could facilitate interactions with virtual reality machines very soon.

The company hopes to build a portable device capable of transferring a person's thoughts directly to the computer screen using the computer interface and the brain, and could help new research to build this device and enable people to interact in real life without the need for a smartphone.

Facebook wants to create a silent voice system capable of writing 100 words in a minute directly into your mind, which means that the new system will be five times faster than a person can write from the phone.

Researchers, including at Stanford University, have found a way to do this with paralyzed patients, but require surgery in which electrodes are implanted in the brain.
