The Mount Lebanon Criminal Court, chaired by Judge Elie El Helou, said Sara El Amin was murdered by her husband, Ali Al-Zein. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison and forced labor. He paid 150 million Lebanese pounds to the heirs of the victim.

On the morning of May 19, 2015, al-Zein fired 17 Kalashnikov bullets, killing her instantly. This crime is considered one of the most significant domestic violence crimes recorded in the past ten years.
