Shortly after LG's support for Apple's technology in its 4K TVs launched this year, Vizio decided to do the same. Vizio is one of the companies that badured us that it would support AirPlay 2 and HomeKit on its TVs earlier this year. To this end, the company has now released the update for subsidized TVs.
Vizio has released a new update that upgrades its Smart TV to SmartCast 3.0, which supports AirPlay 2 and HomeKit. This update is not available immediately for all supported TVs.
The AirPlay 2 wireless protocol will allow Vizio TV owners to play Mac and iOS content on their TVs. They can use HomeKit to control smart objects and even control TV using Siri voice commands.
Vizio outperforms other companies on one point: it supports these features on some TVs launched since 2016, which means that these models will also receive the SmartCast 3.0 update. It is therefore impressive to see Vizio decide to support televisions marketed for several years.
