The Earth faces a "catastrophic" asteroid … a few days later

NASA's Center for Near-Earth Objects (CNEOS) has revealed that a large asteroid named QQ23 would record an "exciting" approach to our planet on August 10th.

The asteroid, clbadified by the US agency as "near-Earth object", is expected to reach its closest point to Earth after 3 am, at a distance of about 4.6 millions of miles.

On the virtual level, if the asteroid reaches 570 meters in diameter, it can result in mbadive destruction and a phenomenon that can erase an entire city, while the expected impact on the ocean will cause waves tide affecting the lowlands and could cause climate change. For many years, according to Newsweek.

Although the asteroid was discovered more than ten years ago in 2006, another space rock flew near Earth several hours before its approach.

Scientists discovered the asteroid, the so-called 2019 OK, Wednesday, hours before it was detected near the Earth at a very short distance.

NASA estimates that it has already detected more than 90% of near – Earth objects, one kilometer or more, that could have catastrophic consequences on a global scale in the event of a collision with our planet.
