MediaTek held a press conference to announce its financial results for the first half of this year. The Taiwanese company recorded a monthly increase of 16.8 percent in revenue and 1.8 percent year-on-year, but another announcement caught our attention.
MediaTek CEO Cai Lixing said the company would provide samples of its 5G V5 processor with the integrated MediaTek Helio M70 modem in the third quarter of this year. The company will begin serial production of this processor in the first quarter of next year, in time for the 5G revolution, said Cai Lixing.
We already have some details about the 5G modem included in this wizard, but the name of the processor has not yet been confirmed. However, we know that it will be based on the ARM architecture by relying on the Cortex-A77 kernel data processing and on the Mali-G77 kernel to handle the graphics.
The 5G processor will support here the frequency below 6 GHz and will include other specifications, including the third generation artificial intelligence engine, support for cameras up to 80 megapixels and the possibility of Record 4K videos at 60 frames per second.
Oppo and Vivo are among the smart phone manufacturers that collaborate with MediaTek. These two parent companies, BKK Electronics, are probably the first companies to adopt MediaTek's new 5G processor.
