Newcastle United have hired Dutch defender Gitro Flims of Eintracht Frankfurt for a season, the English club said.
"He has the choice to buy the player's contract at the end of the season, which starts next week," he said in a statement.
"Jitro brings his experience to the locker room and I'm happy to bring him here," said Newcastle manager Steve Bruce.
"He played at the highest level and is left handed by nature so he will give us more options on that side."
The 25-year-old defender played 22 games for the Dutch national team and arrives at St. James Park before Arsenal's championship game against Arsenal on August 11.
Films started his career at Sparta Rotterdam before joining PSV in 2011, where he won the title of champion twice. He moved to Frankfurt in 2017 and won the trophy last season.
