Russia's Petra_cvetova, ranked sixth in the world, has pulled out of the Toronto tennis championship, not recovering from a hand injury that has disrupted her career this season, the organizers said.
The withdrawal of the 29-year-old meant that Serena Williams was among the top 8.
"The injury to Saadi continues to create problems for me, so I decided not to go to Canada with the advice of my medical team," Kvetova said in a statement.
