The Saudi stock market continued to be negatively traded on a weekly basis as losses continued to end this week, penalized by losses in banks and commodities.
The main market – TASI – ended the week with a loss of 1.7%, falling to 8666.39 points after a loss of 152.61 points.
The decrease is attributable to the negative performance of some of the leading leaders in the index, led by banks, which fell 2.3% and basic materials by 2.2%.
The media sector recorded the largest loss of 4.5%, followed by utilities and utilities by around 4%.
On the other hand, the long-term commodities sector recorded the strongest growth during the week (3.5%), followed by food production (1.7%) and the week was marked by a strong performance. telecommunications sector, with gains of 0.2%.
The market value of Saudi shares fell 1.86 percent from last week, down 38.67 billion riyals ($ 10.31 billion).
The market value fell to 2.045 billion riyals (545.44 billion dollars) by the end of this week, against 2.084 billion riyals (555.75 billion dollars) at the end of last week.
Cash on the main market – TASI – fell 10.5 percent this week to 12.82 billion riyals ($ 3.42 billion) from 14.32 billion riyals ($ 3.82 billion) .
The volume of shares traded decreased by 5.5% during the week to settle at 489.29 million shares, compared to 517.98 million shares traded last week, closed on July 25, 2019.
In contrast, the parallel market index closed the third consecutive week of gains, gaining 0.43%, or 16.42 points.
The parallel markets index closed at 3819.63 points at the end of trading on Thursday and this week, compared with the level of last weekend at 3803.21 points.
The value of the parallel trading during the week amounted to 6.8 million riyals, against 15.03 million riyals last week, through transactions involving 335.79 thousand shares, against 572.14,000 shares at the end of the week ending July 25, 2019.
During the week, the Tadawul All-Share index ended the fall in order to continue its losses on the performance of the main sectors.
The general index of the market "Tasi" of 2.38 percent, or 214.8 points, to establish at 8819 points, compared with the previous week at 9033.8 points.
