The Ministry of Health in Gaza on Monday informed national and Islamic workers' groups of the health situation and highlighted the problems it faces due to a serious shortage of medicines and medical supplies.
This occurred at a meeting organized by the Ministry at the Children's Hospital of Rantisi, among the presence and participation of faction faction leaders and the National High Authority for Returning. and lifting the seat.
Undersecretary Youssef Abu Rish said the meeting had informed the factions of the facts and situation of the health situation in Gaza, the level of health success and the challenges facing the ministry and its efforts. to serve the citizens and to receive and follow their complaints.
Abu Rish said the ministry had put faction representatives in the ministry's follow-up on the wounded return marches and handling the case.
For his part, the head of the Islamic Jihad movement Khaled al-Batsh said that the factions stood alongside the Ministry of Health and cadres, stressing that our people were fully aware of the burdens and challenges facing their ministry and that it offered a great national duty to our people and their cause.
In separate interventions, faction representatives called for the neutralization of the health and education sectors against any political conflict and to address the needs of health facilities in Gaza for drugs, medical tasks and any other needs.
Achievements and challenges
The Director General of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Health, Abdul Latif Al-Hajj, reviewed the efforts of his ministry during the most difficult stages of our people's lives in the Gaza Strip and the capacity of the institutions of the Gaza Strip. health to strengthen and develop despite the seriousness of the crises they have experienced.
Al-Haj explained that the rise in unemployment and the poverty rate in Gaza resulted in increased dependence on public health services, so that dependence on the health facilities of the Ministry exceeded 90% in hospitals and primary health care.
He pointed out that his ministry had allocated more than 2.3 million beneficiaries to serve primary care centers in 2018, while the proportion of secondary care recipients from hospitals accounted for more than 1.5 million citizens .
Haji said that the Ministry of Health surgical hospitals had conducted more than 49,000 operations during the year 2018.
He noted that the department has added dozens of surgical and quality services over the last decade, helping to alleviate the suffering of the citizens and the relocation of many surgical services to avoid treatment and travel. abroad.
Haj said that these achievements reflect the difficult equation of understaffing due to the lack of staffing in response to the large population increase and lack of clinical capacity, which is not the case. measurement of population and dependence on public health services.
For his part, the director of the information systems unit of the Ministry of Health, Hani Al-Wahidi, spoke about the efforts made by the Ministry during the return marches and the lifting of the headquarters, by the establishment of medical points, to treat immediately and first all injuries and transfer them to hospitals.
Al-Wahidi said the ministry had equipped the hospitals with emergency rooms and operating rooms, as well as intensive care and rehabilitation centers, to provide the best services to the wounded, who had Nearly 33,000 injured on the way back.
The General Manager of Technical Assistance Services, Ayman al-Halabi, then reviewed his department's efforts to track complaints from citizens through service 103, handle complaints for medical errors and complications, as well as punitive measures. taken by the ministry against those who proved its shortcomings.
The meeting also included a documentary film produced by the Ministry of Health's public relations unit on the ministry's efforts to track and treat the wounded on the return marches and break the sector's headquarters.
