Beekeepers from all the villages and towns of Marjayoun district have appealed to the Minister of Agriculture, Hbadan El-Laqis, to provide the necessary drugs to fight the pest of the furs, which kills the bees sector and threatens to make it disappear because this pest is very endemic and it's not treated in time this month. It destroys all bees, which is environmentally friendly and a means of livelihood for many farmers.
At a meeting with the head of the agricultural extension office of Marjayoun Fouad and Nansa in his office in Khiam City, beekeeper Marwan Rizk, on behalf of the bee growers, addressed a cry of distress to the Ministry of Agriculture, on behalf of Minister Hbadan El-Laqis. We hope that the Ministry will expedite as much as possible sending the necessary drugs to beekeepers. The treatments are collective to eliminate this deadly insect. If the drugs are used as long as necessary, if they are not treated during the month of August, they will eliminate all the bees. This area is exposed to extinction.
Beekeepers asked the ministry concerned to "take the initiative to distribute useful bees trees, such as small eucalyptus, carob and European lime trees, because bees ate their flowers during registration periods, instead of cypresses. and other trees, distributed by the ministry in the past ".
After listening carefully to their requests, Wansa explained why the delivery of the anti-insect drug had been delayed. The reason for the delay in delivery of the current ministry is the approval of the general budget for 2019, knowing that the relevant ministry, before these two periods, had to provide these drugs continuously to the farmers, because they were convinced of the fact importance of this key sector in the agricultural and economic environment ".
He added: "The ministry has prepared seven courses in this center two months ago in cooperation with agricultural research and about five courses in cooperation with the Union of Municipalities of Jabal Amel and leading experts, and at Deir Mimas with agricultural cooperatives. We exist as a ministry of agriculture to support this sector. "
He concluded: "I badure you that the Ministry of Agriculture has taken all the necessary administrative steps to buy this medicine and others.I will submit a letter to the Ministry to convey your call to speed up insurance of the drug ".
