Brazilian veteran Danny Alves has decided to join Sao Paulo to keep his form in the hope of participating in the final phase of the 2022 World Cup at the age of 39.
More than 40,000 Brazilian spectators celebrated early Wednesday with former Barcelona, Juventus and Paris St Germain players joining Sao Paulo.
Alves, the captain of the Brazilian team crowned with the Copa America 2019, signed a contract with the Brazilian club until December 2022 in free transfer, a month after the end of his contract with Paris Saint- Germain.
Alves, who has already won 40 titles in total in his professional career, said: "I dreamed of competing at the next World Cup and I needed a team that trusts me and who will take me to my story in football.
"I came to Sao Paulo to get good results, I do not want anyone to think that I came to finish my career," he said in comments published by the ESPN network. I still have a lot of goals.
Alves, who missed the 2018 World Cup in Russia because of a knee injury, was on Brazil's list at the 2010 and 2014 World Cups left by Selisau in the quarter-finals and semifinals respectively.
