US oil inventories rose unexpectedly last week

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Crude oil inventories in the United States rose last week against expectations, and gasoline and distillate inventories rose, the Energy Information Administration said on Wednesday.

US crude inventories increased 2.4 million barrels in the week to August 2, while badysts expected a 2.8 million barrel decline.

Data from the Energy Information Administration showed that crude oil refinery consumption increased by 786,000 barrels per day, with high operating rates of 3.4 percentage points.

Gasoline inventories rose 4.4 million barrels, while badysts polled by Reuters had forecast a drop of 722,000 barrels.

Inventories of distillates, including diesel and fuel oil, increased by 1.5 million barrels, while forecasts forecast a decline of 482,000 barrels.

The US Energy Information Administration said net crude oil imports into the United States last week rose 1.19 million barrels a day to 5.28 million barrels a day.

Oil prices increased losses after the release of the Energy Information Administration report, and US crude futures fell by more than 3% to $ 51.90 per barrel.
