In a statement, the president of the Union of Central and Coastal Municipalities, Ahmed Al-Mir, lamented the withdrawal of a number of deputies from the meeting of joint parliamentary committees, during the discussion on Proposed laws to establish councils for the development of Akkar and Baalbek Hermel provinces, stressing that "we were optimistic.Well when we heard this proposal and we were waiting for retired deputies to take into account the dreams from the province devastated by the one-day disaster to approve this Council for the collection of projects and the withdrawal of Akkar from the circle of marginalization and deprivations.

He praised "the efforts of President Nabih Berri to approve this council and has long called for it, as well as on the council for the development of Hermel". He asked: "Who is the beneficiary of the obstruction of such a project and how long can he put the sticks in the wheels?"

He wished "the return of some to their conscience and the adoption of something for Akkar and Hermel, areas that support the state and represent the powerful incubator of the army and institutions that protect these deputies in their country of origin ".
