LONDON (Reuters) – Manchester United, the Premier League champion, has extended the three-year contract of its German midfielder Elkai Gundogan until 2023, according to Citizens.
The 28-year-old German played an important role in his team's historic triumph over the past season.
"The renewal of the Elkay contract is great news for our club," said city director Chiki Biggerstein.
"He showed how important he was to the club and played an important role in all that we have accomplished so far, and we are delighted with his long-term commitment to Manchester City."
Gondogan was the first player to engage Spanish coach Pep Guardiola when he arrived in City in 2016.
"I have loved the city for the last three years here and everyone has helped me feel at home from the first day," said the player, who cost Borussia £ 20 million Dortmund.
"I think we've had a great ball in recent seasons and we've had a lot of success."
