Death of French director Jean-Pierre Mockey at the age of 90

Director Jean-Pierre Mucy, who has directed more than 60 films with the biggest French stars, died Thursday at the age of 90, announced his family.

His brother-in-law, Jerome Pera, told AFP: "Jean-Pierre Mockey died at his home on Thursday afternoon," confirmed to his son, actor and director Stanislas Nordi the new of his father's death.

Stanislas Nordi and the daughter of Olivia Mukegiewski also announced in a statement to AFP: "Jean-Pierre Mockey has decided to shoot his next film with Purville, Michel Cerro, Michel Simon, Fernandell, Jean Moreau, Jean Bourier, Frances Blanche, Charles Aznavour and many others, his Parisian house is surrounded by his family and friends.

Mockey has directed more than 60 films, including "An Droll Paroisian" with Purville and "A More Larpeter" with Michel Cerro and Eddie Mitchell. He was considered a French "disorderly cinema" with his constant criticism and absolute freedom.

During his long career, he shot movies with major actors from Purville to Catherine Deneuve through Charles Aznavour and Gerard Depardieu.
