Written – Mbad Masri:

Alaa Farouk, general manager of retail banking and branches at the National Bank of Egypt, said the bank's credit card portfolio "credit card" had exceeded 5 billion pounds to 1, 85 million cards and used 15 billion cards in total during the previous fiscal year.

Farouk said in a statement to Masrawy that the credit card portfolio accounted for 7% of the size of the retail banking badet portfolio.

Farouk confirmed that the National Bank of Egypt had updated its regulations and added the contactless service to these systems in coordination with international bodies and in accordance with the rules governing the service of the Central Bank.

He explained that contactless service is a modern technology applied in many countries of the world. The card has been issued to allow the cardholder to make purchases only by contacting the card with the outlets without it being necessary to enter it into the machine, which allows to perform these transactions quickly and in particular with several segments. Merchants require such transactions.
