Apple has once again stumbled on the smartphone market, losing third place to the benefit of a lesser-known Chinese company, revealed second-quarter sales figures compiled by a market research firm.
The popular iPhone is ranked fourth in global sales with 35.3 million handsets, compared with 36.2 million for Chinese Oppo in the fourth quarter, according to IH Market. Previously, Apple had stopped publishing detailed sales data on its iPhone.
Samsung, which unveiled last Wednesday the Galaxy Note 10, has maintained first place with a wide margin, with a market share of 23% and sales of 75.1 million devices, ahead of Huawei with a share of 18% after selling 58.7 million smartphones.
Apple wants to prove that it can get good results away from its flagship iPhone, thanks to devices and services that help it offset its decline in the smartphone market.
In the second quarter, sales of iPhone represented for the first time less than half of the group's revenue, but Apple has managed to improve its turnover by 1%, despite a decrease of 12% in its figure business.
According to other market research companies, Apple would have retained third place despite the decline in "iPhone" sales. In contrast, the company "Counterpoint International", which "Huawei" will be negatively affected in the future blacklist by Washington, although sales continued to increase in the second quarter. In total, Chinese companies (Huawei, Oppo, Vivo, Realm and Xiaomi) achieved a record 42% market share in the second quarter, according to Counterpoint.
