Spain's Rafael Nadal won the Masters Masters title in Montreal, the 1,000-point Rogers Cup, after defeating Russian Daniel Medvedev in the final with two draws.

The world number two, Nadal, took an hour and 11 minutes to seal the match in two sets without a reply: 6-3 and 6-0.

It was the fifth and second consecutive title in Nadal's career in the Canadian championship to break the partnership with Serbian Novak Djokovic, who won the last title in 2016 at the expense of Japan's Nishikori.

The Matador also increased his Masters titles total to 35 titles, two more than Djokovic and seven behind Roger Federer.

This is Nadal's third title after Roland Garros and Rome Masters.
