BAGHDAD – The death toll from an explosion in Baghdad camp killed one and injured 29 others, the Iraqi Ministry of Health said on Monday.

Iraqi authorities announced that a major fire was declared Monday in an arsenal held by an armed faction of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization, causing explosions in parts of the capital Baghdad, injuring 14 people.

The warehouse, managed by an armed faction under the leadership of Iran-backed People's Mobilization Forces, is located inside a federal police headquarters in the southern suburbs. from Baghdad.

A security source told Reuters that short-range rockets and Katyusha rockets were in the warehouse.

Qbadem al-Atabi, a spokesman for the district health director, said the fire had fired rockets that fell in nearby neighborhoods and injured 14 people, mostly children.

Health Ministry spokesman Saif Badr said most of the injured had left hospitals in the area where they had been slightly injured.

A police source pointed out that the fire may have occurred due to negligence, which resulted in poor storage conditions and high temperatures. The Ministry of Interior ordered an investigation.
