The World Health Organization (WHO) announced that Saudi Arabia had organized this year's Hajj season (1440 AH / 2019), "successfully without reporting a single public health event or a epidemic disease among pilgrims ".
"A team of experts has been deployed to support the efforts of the Ministry of Health and to ensure that public health preparedness measures are implemented to prevent possible epidemic diseases", said the WHO in a statement received on Monday.
"This year's pilgrimage season comes at a time when the organization has declared the Ebola outbreak as a public health emergency of international concern." The WHO noted the cooperation between the Saudi Ministry of Health and Global Health to develop an early warning system tool to facilitate detection and response activities. This new tool received more than 100 alerts this year.
"The WHO team visited health centers and hospitals in Mina, Muzdalifah and Arafat to make sure the early warning system was in place and working well", according to the press release.
The statement stresses that Riyad is ready to prevent and deal with the risks badociated with human mbades, such as heat-related diseases and food poisoning.
