Prohibit "MacBook Pro" models from battery failures

The US Federal Aviation Agency has banned certain models of Apple MacBook Pro laptops on flights after the airline warned of the danger of burning its batteries.

Apple announced in June that it would call a limited number of MacBook Pro with a 15-inch display because its batteries are exposed to overheating and were sold between September 2015 and February 2017.

It is unclear whether the British Civil Aviation Authority will do the same by banning faulty MacBook Pro models on flights in and around the UK.

MacBook Pro owners can check to see if their model is a prohibited device by typing the serial number on the Apple support page.
