Prime Minister Saad Hariri stressed that we could not change the position of the US administration on sanctions against Hezbollah, but we are working to avoid the consequences for Lebanon.
"We are trying to find the best way not to put Lebanon in danger," he told reporters. "We are not an Israeli police force that continues to violate resolution 1701 and there is no balance in the reactions to Israel's violations."
"Discussions on sanctions against Hezbollah's allies are being discussed in Congress, but I think we will not get there," he said.
"Stopping the smuggling is a Lebanese decision and not an American request, we will install a scanner in the land and sea crossing points and we will close the illegal crossings, which will show the results in the 2020 budget."
"I have heard unprecedented praise for the governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon, Riad Salameh and the Central Bank, and a machine is trying to hit the economy by intimidating sanctions and some are trying to intimidate through the budget, and they believe that by striking the economy, we find a solution for Hezbollah. "
He concluded by stating: "Walid Jumblatt is not being physically targeted and anyone who thinks about it will lead the country to civil war and politics will follow the beating of Jumblatt, beating me as well as President Berri and the other allies of Jumblatt, including the Lebanese Forces. "
