Instagram has added a feature that allows users to report posts they deem to be false, to prevent the appearance of misleading information and other violations on its platform.
Facebook, which owns Instagram, does not ban the publication of false information in any of its social networking services, but takes steps to limit its spread and warn users.
Facebook has 54 survey partners working in 24 languages, but the Instagram program will only be available in the United States.
"This is a preliminary step in the perspective of a more comprehensive approach to misinformation," said Facebook spokeswoman Stephanie Otway.
