A bike for every citizen .. Egyptian initiative to maintain health and fuel

The Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports announced that it would launch a national sports initiative under the slogan "Cycling for every citizen" as a start in the governorates of Cairo and Giza, according to the official page of the Council ministers.

The initiative, which will be launched in September, aims to change citizens' everyday mobility culture, improve their physical condition and health and encourage them to use active mobility rather than rely on energy-intensive means.

In the same vein, tweeters said on the websites that the government could entrust the armed forces with the initiative to take advantage of the provision of bicycles without competition, just like 39, other projects and economic sectors controlled by the army.

This initiative also comes one month after the 16% to 30% increase in fuel prices for the fifth consecutive time in the last four years, as part of an agreement with the International Monetary Fund, which had granted him a loan of $ 12 billion in November 2016.

In July, the Cabinet of Ministers announced the application of the automatic pricing mechanism for petroleum products, which aimed to revise the price every three months.

Automatic pricing involves linking the price of fuel to the price of international oil and the price in dollars, which allows price liberalization and provides no support in the future, so that the rate of price change sales price does not exceed 10% of the current sales price.
