USM Algiers has qualified for the knockout stages of the African Champions League after a 2-1 away win over Niger's Sonidab in the first leg of the preliminary round.
USM Alger took advantage in the 14th minute when Mohamed Ben Chaa scored a brace in the second half to seal the victory for the visitors.
This is the first official match led by the new USM Alger coach, Bilal Dziri, who will then play in Algeria at the end of the month.
In another match, Algerian JS Kabylie won 1-0 at home against Sudanese Merikh in the same round.
JS Kabylie scored the only goal of the match, Mohamed Ben Saih, two minutes before the break.
The return match will be held in Omdurman on October 24th.
