Facebook has announced the launch of a new feature that allows filmmakers to use their social network to promote their movies through advertisements appearing in the notifications.
Facebook, which has the largest social network in the world, said in a blog post that this feature includes two new advertising solutions: movie reminders and television ads.
Both solutions are designed to help movie studios increase ticket sales and help people find the movies they want to watch.
Facebook noted that moviegoers often find movies months before the launch. She therefore thinks she needs reminders to inform them that the projection of the movie they're waiting for is imminent in cinemas.
With movie reminders, the company said users who see an article about a movie that they like on their "News" page can now click the "Interested" button to receive a reminder about their Facebook notifications when they are not interested in the news. it's time to start broadcasting in theaters. By clicking on the reminder notification, users will access the movie's Facebook page, which includes details such as schedules, and can purchase tickets from this page.
Regarding movie schedules, Facebook explained that they are already available for movies currently in theaters. Previously, users had to do a number of steps and research to find out when the movies were showing.
When they see an advertisement for movie schedules, they can click the Get Schedules button to go directly to the movie's detail page on Facebook, where they'll find information on where and when where the film will be broadcast.
According to Facebook, advertisers who have tested these solutions have already achieved convincing results that triggered searches and ticket sales. Universal Pictures used these solutions to promote its latest film The Grinch and saw a dramatic increase in searches and ticket purchases.
Reminders and film shows are currently available for all film companies in the United States and the United Kingdom.
