Ten police cars arrived at the scene.

A six-year-old boy was thrown from the tenth floor of the Tate Modern Museum in central London, police said.

The boy fell on the roof of the fifth floor, and was then transported by helicopter to the hospital in critical condition.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested for "attempted murder," police sources said.

The boy was thrown from a surveillance platform on the tenth floor, police said.

There is no indication that the suspect, who did not leave the scene, was shot dead.

Where is my child?

Nancy Bartfeld, staff member, was on the 10th floor with a friend and their children when she heard a road accident and a woman shouting, "Where is my baby? Where is my baby?"

She said that the boy, who was being held by some people before the police arrived, was calm.

An eyewitness, Stewart Hagas, said he saw the emergency teams arrive, carrying the boy on a stretcher, while another stretcher was near the front door.

The BBC said the place was full of families, that the police had prevented the public from going out, that two fire trucks and 10 police cars had arrived and that some parts of the building had been closed.

The Tate Modern Museum opened in 2000, and London's most important landmarks were its tourist attractions in 2018.
