A walking tour of Mount Akrum as part of the promotion of ecotourism

The Akkar Trail organized a 12-kilometer nature hike in the Mount Akrum region, in cooperation with the Mayor of Kaferton, Mountain Arch Mountain Group in Akrum and local guides of the city.

The trip, which involved about 25 people, took place in the heart of the Wadi Saba archaeological valley, including the famous stone sculpture of Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar, as well as inscriptions and engravings engraved in the rock that characterizes this valley, with a number of sporadic springs that have enriched the journey, which has increased the aesthetics of the way. The trip ended with a visit to the fortress of Hossain, on the hill overlooking the mountains of Mount Akrum and Syria, home to Roman temples as well as various monuments of great importance.

Hatem al-Fahal, a local guide, welcomed the audience and gave a general explanation of the history of the region: "Mount Akrum consists of seven villages, one of the richest regions of Lebanon with its antiques and its history, although these monuments have been heavily vandalized and stolen, This is an important attraction for tourists, and the steps taken by locals in this regard have begun to bear fruit gradually, although the rate participation has been timid, but ecotourism in the Mount Akrum region is progressively flourishing and provides for a revitalization of the economic movement in the region.

"Akkar Trail is trying to set up a real project to promote ecological tourism.The group considers that Akkar is an accessible destination.Our visit to the Akrum region will not be the last, but steps will be then needed to link routes, and develop and rehabilitate new routes. "
