Abu Dhabi has received the flag of the organization of the World Swimming Championships which will be held in 2020 at the end of the world championships held recently in the Chinese city of Hanzhou.

Ahmed Al Qubaisi, Director of Marketing and Events of the Sports Council of Abu Dhabi, received the International Federation's flag from Julio Magelloni, President of FINA, in the presence of Abdullah Al Wahaibi, Secretary General of the United Arab Emirates Swimming Federation.

For his part, Ahmed Al Qubaisi highlighted the UAE leaders' support for the achievements of UAE sport and the achievements of recent years.

Al Qubaisi added that the Abu Dhabi Sports Council had started to prepare the championship in cooperation with the Swimming Federation, before receiving the Chinese Hanzhou City tournament flag, where the master plans and calendar of the various work to be done for a successful championship worthy of the name and prestige of the UAE.

The Abu Dhabi Sports Council, hosting the 15th edition of the World Championship, hopes to place the United Arab Emirates capital, Abu Dhabi, at the forefront of international sporting events in various sports and games.

The 25-meter short world swimming championships are held every two years, the 2016 version taking place in the Canadian city of Windsor, while the Chinese company Hanzhou hosted the 2018 version.
