Leading browsers have granted Dark Mater a temporary status for site validation in 2017. The company has sought to recognize them as one of the sixty companies enjoying a fully recognized status.
In this interim situation, Dark Mater has approved approximately 275 sites, most of which appear to belong to local companies or the Abu Dhabi-based security company.
The browser now warns Chrome or Android users who visit these sites with a phrase appearing on the browser when opening these sites "Hackers can try to steal your information".
Dark Matter and its digital trust echoed Mozilla's decision, which was based on "discriminatory practices and undisclosed conflicts of interest." However, no response or comment was made by Dark Mater.
Reuters reported in January that Dark Mater had provided personnel for a secret flight called "The Crow Project" on behalf of the United Arab Emirates intelligence agency. The unit was largely made up of former US intelligence officials who perpetrated cyber-attacks on behalf of the UAE government.
Former Raven customers told Reuters that many of the Dark Mater officials were unaware of the secret program, launched from a palace in Abu Dhabi, away from the seat of Dark Mater.
