The Argentine Football Confederation has decided to keep Lionel Scalloni as coach of the national team until the end of the World Cup qualifiers in Qatar in 2022, said the official on his official Twitter account.
Scalloni, former Newell's Old Boys and Deportivo La Coruna, took over from Jorge Sampaoli as interim coach in August 2018. In November, he was appointed to head the team at Cuba. In which Argentina was dissolved.
Backed by the 41-year-old, especially Lionel Messi, the club has decided to retain his services until the end of South America's qualifications for the 2022 World Cup, which will begin in March 2020 .
Scalloni will not be able to count on Messi in the first phase of the game. The Barcelona star was suspended for one match after being sent off on July 6 against Chile (2-1) in third place at Cuba America, organized by Brazil.
