The Swiss team drivers slipped from 7th to 8th place at the 12th and 13th at Hockenheim after being badessed a 30 second penalty for breaking the laws of the clutch.

The judges decided that the clutch of the Alfa Romeo was operating in such a way as to give them a preference during the restart that followed the protective bearings behind the safety car.

Although the penalty was applied, Frederic Fbador, head of the Alfa Romeo, said that the clutch problem was beyond the control of the team and that he had "evidence" to refute it.

"Behind the safety car, we had a problem of clutch work beyond our control, and we will study the matter in depth," he said.

"We respect the decision and the work of the referees, but we will appeal the decision because we believe that we have a solid foundation to refute the sanction," he said.

After announcing its intention to appeal the sentence, the team confirmed, before the start of its tour in Hungary, that it had presented the simplest documents necessary to confirm this wish.

"Alfa Romeo Racing has appealed decisions 56 and 57 taken by the referees at the 2019 Grand Prix," said a short article on Twitter.
