MADRID (Reuters) – Arsenal midfielder Henrik Makhitarian will be out for at least six weeks due to a foot injury, Arsenal said on Monday.
Mkhitarian fractured his right foot in the match against his neighbor Tottenham last Wednesday in the quarter-finals of the League Cup, leaving his place to French defender Laurent Cosnelney between the two halves.
He also missed the last game against Burnley 3-1 on Saturday in the league.
The London club has written that its Armenian playmaker "should resume full training after six weeks". Makhtarian has been part of the team of Spanish coach Onai Emery and has scored four goals in the league this season.
The 29-year-old Armenian international will miss several matches, including Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City, his team seeking to rank among the top four in the Premier League.
Mkhitarian joined Arsenal about a year ago from Manchester United, under an agreement that allowed Chilean Alexis Sanchez to pbad Gunners to the Red Devils.
