Manchester United manager Uller Janer Sulshire has announced the appointment of Ashley Young as captain of the first team next season, following the departure of Ecuadorian Antonio Valencia.
In a press release published on Manchester United's official website, Solshire confirmed that Young would be the team leader and that he would be replaced by Spanish goalkeeper David de Chia.
Young moved from Aston Villa to Old Trafford in the summer of 2011, where he is one of the oldest members of the current United team.
Spanish goalkeeper David de Chia wore the captain's armband, despite Young's participation in the second half of AC Milan's match on Saturday at the International Champion's Cup.
