Iran's Minister of Health, Care and Medical Education, Said Nemki, said the creation of condolences to Imam Hussein in Ashura had increased rates of violence in the community and suicides in his country.

According to the website of the Iranian "Koya News", during a speech in front of a group of experts and doctors of psychology in Tehran, Nemki criticized the creation of mourning councils on the anniversary of the death of the Prophet and his daughter as well as the twelve imams of the Shiites, and said: "These councils cause an increase in the rate of depression among the people".

"The establishment of these bereavement councils has also resulted in increased levels of violence in the community and suicide in the country," he said.

He attacked conservatives, extremists and clerics in the Qom area, the minister, accusing him of undermining the values, faith and principles of the revolution.
