The Ibn al-Nafis Hospital in Damascus opened in February 2016 a special section for patients in oncology, which provides surgical, chemical, hormonal and immunotherapy services, according to the department head, Dr. Nidal Khader.
Khadr reveals to Sana Health that the department, from its inception to date, has treated approximately 4,500 patients with a rate of 90 to 100 referrals and 40 to 60 doses a day.

In prevention, Khadr recommends to fight against obesity, to rely on a varied diet, with an abundance of fruits and vegetables, to avoid smoking and to spread the culture of early detection.
With Ibn al-Nafis Hospital, the cancer treatment centers affiliated to the Ministry of Health are divided between the General Authority of the Damascus Hospital, the Ibn Rushd Medical Complex in Aleppo, the general authority of the Hama National Hospital, Sweida Zaid Hospital and Tartous Basilica, as well as four specialized centers in Homs.
