LONDON (Reuters) – Former Italian coach Antonio Conte confirmed Thursday that he was out of the field and ready to resume training, but stressed that he had not received no offer in Italy.
Conte was sacked by the club last July while he was leading him to the England Cup (at the expense of Manchester United) and replaced his compatriot Maurizio Sari, the former coach from Naples.
"I miss the field, but I decided to spend a year in rest, I am very calm and I wait for my new destination, and I do not know where it will be," said Conté.
"I'm here in Milan because I came to watch the match at Atalanta and Juventus in Italy Cup," said the 49-year-old coach at Sky Sports Italia, who finished Wednesday with a 3-0 win and private his former title team. That he held in the previous four seasons.
Conte, who stays with Chelsea for a year after being sacked, can not coach any team in England until next summer under the terms of the criminal clause in the contract with the London club.
Chelsea fell 4-0 to Bournemouth on Wednesday in the 24th round of the Premier League. When asked about this result, Conti asked: "Did this happen, I do not know, I was watching the match at Atalanta and Juventus," saying that "anything, Chelsea is a thing of the past for me".
The former international midfielder has spent most of his career with the "old lady". As a player, he has won 13 titles in various competitions and has led to three consecutive league titles. After two years at the helm of the national team, Conte took over Chelsea in 2016 and led it to the Premier League in his first season.
