The Iraqi Football Federation officially signed in early September with coach Katanic for three years.

The contract between the 55-year-old coach and the Iraqi federation is valued at $ 1.2 million a year, including salary, as well as that of his staff.

Katanic has already coached his country twice between 1998 and 2002, when he led it to the finals of the World Cup in South Korea and Japan, and between 2013 and 2017 when he resigned after failing to lead the 2018 World Cup, Russia.

As part of his coaching experience, Katanic oversaw the United Arab Emirates team from 2009 to his dismissal in 2011 due to poor results.
