Jean-Pierre Mockey, who has made more than 60 films with the biggest French stars, has died at 90, announced his family.

His son-in-law Jerome Pera said: "Jean-Pierre Mockey died at home Thursday afternoon" and his son, actor and director Stanislas Nordi confirmed the news of his father's death.

"Jean-Pierre Mockey moved to shoot his next film with Purville, Michel Cerro, Michel Simon, Fernandel, Jean Moret, Jean Bouaret, Frances Blanche, Charles Aznavour and many others."

Mockey has directed more than 60 films, including "The Paroisian Droll" with Purville and "A More Larpeter" with Michel Cerro and Eddie Mitchell. He was considered a French "disorderly cinema" with his constant criticism and absolute freedom.

During his long career, he shot movies with major actors from Purville to Catherine Deneuve through Charles Aznavour and Gerard Depardieu.
