Demand for air cargo is down due to trade war tensions

(MENAFN) Global demand for air cargo fell 4.8% year-on-year in June this year.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) said Wednesday that the drop in demand for air cargo in June was the eighth consecutive month.

According to Alexander de Juniak, director general and chief executive officer of IATA, global trade continues to be affected by the intensification of trade disputes – particularly between the United States and China – as a result of which the air cargo markets continue to deteriorate.

"Nobody wins a trade dispute, open borders spread sustainable prosperity, and that's what political leaders should focus on."
