Dementia is transmitted genetically in the family!

A Danish woman died of a rare type of dementia while she was pregnant with her son, while it was thought that the disease was due to a hereditary factor, reported the Daily Mail.

The source added that the husband of the deceased woman had also succumbed to the "Kreutzfeld Jacob" disease, caused by a degenerative brain disease and resulting in dementia and death.

The doctors were perplexed when they learned that the woman was healthy and had cured symptoms of the disease before pregnancy, but the fetus was transferred to the father's inherited disease.

The woman's son is suffering from "Croatsfield Jacob" and the symptoms of the disease have appeared in the 53-year-old man.

The researchers are now likely to have inherited the gene responsible for the father's disease and then transferred it to the mother while he was fetus in the uterus.

Doctors say that the cells in the embryo contained toxic proteins that crossed the placenta, circulated in the blood and infiltrated the brain.

The Copenhagen Reference Center for Bronchial Diseases in Copenhagen, Denmark, is particularly important because of its ability to detect a new cause of dementia.
