Cleansing preparations cause heart disease and cancer – Photo archives
A recent American study has established a link between exposure to chemicals used in household cleaning tools, heart disease and cancer.
"These chemicals are known as dichlorophenol and are derived from the phenolic compound, known to disrupt hormonal systems," said the newspaper "Medical Express," a public health college of the University of Minnesota. "It is found in several consumer and industrial products, odor, antibacterial additives and chlorinated drinking water.
In their study, scientists examined two of these chemicals and found a possible link between them and the high rate of heart disease and cancer.
The study, which included 3,617 participants, included information on the history of the reported disease, as well as urine tests to badess their exposure to these substances.
High concentrations of urine in these substances were badociated with a higher prevalence of heart disease and all cancers combined, and subjects with higher concentrations of these substances tended to be obese.
Scientists have found no statistically significant badociation between these substances, lung diseases, thyroid problems and liver diseases.
