LONDON –
More than 160 sprinters took part in a snail race held as part of an annual world championship in Britain this year had a public participation.
The competition is organized in a world championship organized since the 1960s, at a table with a damp cloth.
Three circles determine the summit of the competition where the snails are placed around the edge of the central circle as a starting line for the race won by the first snail towards the outer circle.
The competitor has the right to choose between bringing his own snail or choosing one of the snails provided by the organizer on the day of the contest.
The tournament competitions take place at the time and the final is held between all the winners.
Maria Wilby, an English teacher, culminated in the final when she went through the snail that she chose, "The Sami Snail", the final stretch of the race.
In 1995, he recorded a new world record in the Guinness Book of Records when the 33-centimeter snail finished the race in two minutes and 20 seconds.
To organize these tournaments, each participant and local competitor pays a sum of money for each snail participating in the race. The money collected goes to a local charity.
The next world championships will take place in July 2020.
