Dow Jones gains 370 points with rising bond yields

Direct: US stocks rose at close on Thursday as the Dow Jones gained more than 370 points thanks to higher government bond yields.

The technology sector advanced about 2.9%, well ahead of the US market, led by AMD, which jumped more than 16%.

The rise in US equities is accompanied by relatively calm business concerns and positive economic data.

Economic data showed that Chinese exports have risen to the highest level since March.

In the world's largest economy, the number of US jobless claims fell more than expected last week.

Wall Street has experienced notable fluctuations during previous sessions, with fears of a slowdown in growth due to trade tensions between China and the United States.

At closing, the Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 1.4%, or 371 points, to 26,378.

Standard & Poor's rose 1.9% to 2,938 points, while Nasdaq rose 2.2% to 8,093 points.

At 20:05 GMT, the dollar index, which tracks the performance of the currency against the six major currencies, rose 0.07% to 97,612.
